The Case for the Murphy Bed: 3 Reasons To Love Them

I have a Murphy bed in my home office. Since I can't understand why Murphy beds are not a popular option, I decided to write about my bed and why it is so convenient to have one.

I start doing some research and what I find is that people are asking "are Murphy beds safe?", "can a Murphy bed kill me?"... what?! That is one bad reputation.

Below are three good reasons why to love them:

#1. Space-saving

A standard queen bed takes 33.5 sq. feet while a folded-up Murphy bed will take only about 8.5 sq. feet.

It saves you about 75% of the size of a bed!

In a small-sized room it will give you the flexibility to add another function to the same space, as the home office at home, or a playroom like in this beautiful setting:

#2. Comfortable as any other bed

A Murphy bed can use any coil-spring mattress up to 10" thick, and even a memory foam mattress because it "holds its shape even when placed in a vertical position for a long time", Best Mattress Brand assures.

#3. Adds value to your home

I can tell you that the Murphy bed in the office was one of the reasons why we bought the house. We have family visiting us for a couple of weeks every year and the combo guest room - home office fitted like a glove for us!

"Space is attractive to homebuyers. The quickest way to increase the value of your home is to increase space. By giving a room dual purpose with a Murphy Bed, you turn a small home office into a home office and guest bedroom", More Space Place says and I couldn't agree more.

Safety

Murphy beds are not dangerous if installed properly. They are designed to fold up and down safely in seconds without heavy lifting. When buying a Murphy bed, keep in mind the manufacture reviews and attention to detail.
